This week, year 5 have taken part in an Enabling Enterprise module, based around Numeracy. The 'brief' was to create a new board game for Hamley's toy store in London. After trying out Snakes and Ladders, the children then got to work making up their own version, including making their own counters and dice. With game names such as 'Trees and Bushes' , Rainbows and Bubbles and Mathematical Snakes and Ladders, 5A really engrossed themselves into their work. After playing each others' games, they gave positive feedback.
Year 5 Computing
Last term, year 5 explored the theme – ‘We are Artists’. They learnt how to create geometric art in the style of Brigit Reilly using the ‘Scratch’ program. From writing simple script to create circles, squares and polygons, they then moved onto 'Terragen 4' – A program which allowed them to create CGI images of backgrounds. Some of our best work is shown below!
Everyone really enjoyed doing this, and some of their results were truly stunning.
Year 5 have had an amazing start to 2018 coming back with fantastic attitudes and really working hard! I was so impressed by their work output that I gave an appreciation in assembly where they received a standing ovation from the whole school.
We have just started a new unit in English that 5a are particularly excited about so hopefully we will have some amazing work to share on here soon. Our science unit has taken on a Frankenstein approach as we explore the human circulatory and respiratory systems. Watch this space for photographic evidence.
I would like to wish everybody a fabulous new year and look forward to sharing year 5’s adventures and achievements with you

Friday (24th Nov) Year 5 participated in a workshop at Luton Carnival Arts. They made masks and performed freestyle dance routines. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Since starting the year in September 5A have settled down well. They have risen to every new challenge with enthusiasm and are working extremely hard! The year 5 team and I are confident that the children will exceed their expectations and achieve great results this year. I look forward to seeing them mature and grow.
