PSHE programmes of work are aimed at promoting a respect and understanding of ourselves, others and our environment. This includes all aspects of Health Education, involving both mental and physical well-being. We hope this provides a foundation for the responsibilities of later life.
In SEAL lessons the children learn how to cope with their emotions and deal with problems through a national programme, which covers the Social and Emotional aspects of learning. Small groups of children are given additional support when required. Each theme begins and ends with an assembly. There are 6 themes which include New Beginnings, Changes and Going for Goals.
The Governors have approved a Sex Education Policy that ensures children's questions are answered sensitively when they arise. A letter is always sent to parents before the more delicate aspects of this subject are discussed with the children.
This area is also supported by our monthly Values programme which gives children the opportunity to develop positive attitudes towards a variety of personal traits.
